Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, was born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both attorneys. In her early years she was enrolled in her school, the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. From the age of six Emma knew she would like to be an actress. For several years, she studied at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theater school, where she learned performing and singing. The film broke records for the opening day sales as well as opening week-end take-offs and became the top-grossing movie of 2001. The film received praise from critics, as were the performances of its three starlets. The widely distributed British paper The Daily Telegraph called her performance admirable.
